In Warsaw, a film can play dubbed into Polish, or with a lektor, a single voice that reads the Polish lines over the English audio. This site skips both. It lists only English-language screenings with Polish subtitles, from seven Warsaw cinemas, for today and the next seven days.

Three words to know

Polish cinema programmes describe each version of a film with a short word:

  • napisy means subtitles. The audio stays in English, with Polish text at the bottom of the screen. This is the version we list.
  • dubbing means Polish voices replace the actors.
  • lektor means one Polish voice-over reads the lines above the original sound.

The same film can play in two of these versions on the same day, in the same cinema.

The cinemas we cover

Six Cinema City cinemas:

  • Arkadia
  • Bemowo
  • Białołęka
  • Mokotów
  • Promenada
  • Sadyba

And one Helios cinema:

  • Helios Blue City

Cinema City marks the original language, the dubbing, the voice-over and the subtitles of every screening. We keep a Cinema City screening only when the original language is English and it has Polish subtitles with no dubbing or lektor.

Helios marks its subtitled prints, but not the original language. For Helios we keep subtitled screenings of films that are not Polish, then drop films that IMDb lists in another language. The check is not perfect, so now and then a Helios screening in another language can appear. Check the film on the Helios site if you are not sure.

How to use it

  1. Open English movies in Warsaw.
  2. Pick a day.
  3. Tap one or more cinemas, for example Arkadia and Promenada.
  4. Use the Source filter (cinemacity or helios) to see one chain only.
  5. Filter by format. Cinema City has formats such as 3D, IMAX, 4DX and VIP, and the list shows the ones on that day.
  6. Tap a showtime to book on Cinema City's or Helios's own site.

Films show their English titles, a poster, the running time and an IMDb rating when one exists. Search works by title.

We do not sell tickets. Prices and free seats are on the chain's booking page.
