In Vienna, English screenings sit in the same programmes as the German-dubbed ones, and you spot them by their labels. This site collects the English screenings from eight Vienna cinemas and shows them on one page, for today and the next seven days.

The cinemas

All eight cinemas sell tickets through Cineplexx:

  • Artis International
  • Apollo Das Kino
  • Cineplexx Donau Zentrum
  • Cineplexx Millennium City
  • Cineplexx Wienerberg
  • Village Cinema Wien Mitte
  • Actors Studio
  • Urania

Artis International plays its films in the original version. At the other cinemas, check the label of each screening.

The German labels

Vienna programmes use short German labels for the language of a screening. These are the ones to know:

  • OV (Englisch) means the original English version. The label does not say which subtitles, if any.
  • OmU means "Originalfassung mit Untertiteln", the original version with German subtitles.
  • OmeU means the original version with English subtitles.

We list a screening only when it carries one of these labels and the film's original language is English. Dubbed German screenings stay out. Next to each time we show the subtitle language when we know it: "German subs" for OmU and "English subs" for OmeU.

How to use the page

  1. Visit English movies in Vienna.
  2. Pick a day from the row of dates.
  3. Tap one or more cinemas. Tap Artis International and Urania, for example, to see only those two.
  4. Filter by format. Cineplexx offers formats such as 3D, IMAX, 4DX and Dolby Atmos, and we show the ones on the day you pick.
  5. Search by title if you have a film in mind.
  6. Tap a showtime to open the booking page on the Cineplexx site.

Each film also shows its poster, running time and an IMDb rating when one exists. We do not sell tickets, and prices and seats are on the Cineplexx page.

A tip for OmU and OmeU

If you do not read German, look for times marked "English subs", or OmeU on the Cineplexx page. With OmU, the audio is still English, but the subtitles are German.
