Gdańsk has no Cinema City, so our Gdańsk page uses the Helios chain. It lists the subtitled shows at two Helios cinemas and keeps out the dubbed ones, so you can see at a glance which films you can watch in English this week.
The cinemas
- Helios Forum
- Helios Metropolia
We read both schedules from Helios directly. The page covers today and the next seven days.
How Helios marks the language
In Poland a foreign film can come dubbed, with a lektor voice-over, or with subtitles. Helios puts a short code on each print:
- NAP for napisy, subtitles. These are the shows we list.
- DUB for dubbing. We skip them.
- LEK for lektor. We skip them too.
We also leave out Polish productions, since those have Polish sound anyway.
How sure is the list?
Helios tells us a show has subtitles, but not which language the actors speak. A Spanish or Japanese film with Polish subtitles carries the same NAP code. We check each film against IMDb data and drop the ones we know are not in English. A few can still get through, so glance at the title and the IMDb link before you buy.
Using the page and booking
- Open English movies in Gdańsk.
- Choose a day.
- Tap Helios Forum or Helios Metropolia if you only want one of them.
- Tap 3D if you want a 3D show.
- Search by title if you have a film in mind.
Each film card shows the original title, the poster, the running time, the age rating and the IMDb rating when one exists. Under each cinema you see the day's times with "Polish subs".
Tap a time to open the Helios ticket page on bilety.helios.pl for that show. You choose seats and pay on Helios's site.
