If you live in Frankfurt and want to hear the actors' own voices, you need the original-version screenings. In a long German programme they are hard to spot. This site finds them for you.
What the Frankfurt page shows
The Frankfurt page lists every English-language screening at CineStar Metropolis. We read the programme from CineStar's own website, so the times match what the cinema sells. A screening only makes the list when CineStar marks the film as English and the show as an original version. Dubbed shows of the same film stay off the page.
You get the next eight days, starting with today. Each film has a poster, its running time, the age rating and an IMDb rating when we can find one. CineStar often lists films under their German title. When we find the English title, we show it first and put the German one underneath, so you can recognise the film you came for.
How to read the German labels
German cinemas mark original-version screenings with short codes. You will see them on the CineStar booking page too:
- OV means "Originalversion". The film plays in its original language.
- OmU means "Original mit Untertiteln". English audio with German subtitles.
- OmeU means "Original mit englischen Untertiteln". The audio is the original and the subtitles are in English.
Under each showtime we print the subtitle language, for example "German subs". When a time has no subtitle note, CineStar did not list subtitles for it.
Booking a seat
- Load English movies in Frankfurt.
- Pick a day from the row of dates.
- If you care about format, tap 2D, 3D or IMAX to narrow the list.
- Type a title into the search box if you already know what you want.
- Tap a showtime. It opens the CineStar ticket page for that exact show.
We do not sell tickets ourselves. Prices, seat maps and payment all happen on CineStar's site.
One cinema for now
For now we list one cinema in Frankfurt, CineStar Metropolis. CineStar adds and moves shows during the week, so check the page again close to the day you plan to go.
